STUDY IN GERMANY

Historically known as the “Land of Poets and Thinkers”, Germany has a lot to offer to excite your intellectual curiosity. Impressive structural reforms and the resilient economy of Germany have attracted a lot of investors. The German education system is highly regarded all over the world for its quality and affordability. It comes as no surprise that it is a favourite destination for higher studies amongst international students. Here are some more reasons to justify your decision of studying in Germany for your higher studies:

Well-structured education system: The Bologna Process is a series of ministerial meetings and agreements between European countries to ensure comparability in the standards and quality of higher-education qualifications. Germany is one of the active participants in the Bologna process and has successfully implemented the two-tier structure of Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

There are two types of institutions for higher studies in Germany viz. Universities (Universitat) and University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule -FH). The Universities are focussed on research and offer a broad range of subjects that include humanities, law, business management, and medicine. Technical Universities or TUs fall under this umbrella and specialize in STEM subjects. The FHs on the other hand have a practical orientation and a set curriculum.

Affordable tuition: German Universities deliver high-quality education at little or no cost. There is no tuition fee for most programs in public universities. A nominal semester contribution is charged for administrative costs, campus services, and transport. However, private universities do charge a tuition fee which is still affordable in comparison to other countries.

English-taught programs: A good number of Master's programs are taught in English. This has opened a lot of options for international students.

Low cost of living: The annual living expenses in Germany are far lower than in other European countries like the UK, France, Switzerland, Belgium, etc.

Technological expertise: Germany has long been a powerhouse of industry and innovation. It is one of the largest car producers in the world with big manufacturers like Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes Benz. Germany is an international leader in climate and energy policies with renewable energy powering at least a third of Germany.

Job opportunities: At the Universities of Applied Sciences, theory and practice go hand-in-hand. This offers excellent opportunities to gain work experience during the course of study for students going abroad for higher studies. Besides, Germany is facing a shortage of skilled resources and as such there is a demand for talent in many industries.

Post-study work visa: International students coming here for higher education can get an 18-month post-study work visa after obtaining a German University degree.

Cultural heritage: Germany has a rich history that can be explored by visiting the many elegant castles, medieval cathedrals, and museums in the country. Germans have dominated the classical music scene in the past with composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Strauss, and Mozart. The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra still continues to enthral music lovers through its performances of Classical, Romantic, and early 20th- century music.

Fun and festivities: Experience the adrenaline rush of driving on the Autobahn. The German highway system has achieved a legendary status worldwide as the motorway with no speed limit. If you love Beer or Black Forest cake, Germany should definitely be on your bucket list. The Oktoberfest is the world's largest Volksfest, featuring a beer festival and a travelling carnival.
